CAPITOL HILL TOUR

LENGTH OF TOUR: 1.5 hours

WHAT YOU WILL SEE: US Capitol Building east and west fronts, Supreme Court Building, and the Library of Congress. Upon special request, we can see the insides of these buildings as well.

Filled with intrigue, history and tons of Instagram worthy views, Capitol Hill is always a crowd favorite. First, on our Capitol Hill walking tour we delve into the long and complicated history of the US Capitol Building. In addition to it’s construction, we will discuss it’s function and the day to day happenings inside this massive pillar of our democracy – there are countless stories to tell on this tour.

In addition to the wonderful buildings on Capitol Hill, one of the most overlooked features in Washington DC is the US Capitol Grounds. This beautiful green space is actually a certified arboretum. The grounds are home to many gorgeous trees and flowerbeds. Many of the trees are historic, that were planted by members of Congress. These special trees are memorials to significant Americans or historic events.

After staring down the National Mall towards the Lincoln Memorial, while standing near the spot where our Presidents are inaugurated, we will visit the Supreme Court. The magnificent marble building known as the highest court in the land sits just across from the Library of Congress. With a short walk we will see three of the most impressive buildings in Washington DC. In conclusion, guests who are interested in the US government will love this tour.

Warning:

Unless requested in advance we will not be going inside any of the Capitol Hill buildings. This is also depending on time of day for each tour. Above all, this all depends on whether or not each building is open to the public on each day. However, whether we go indoors or not, this is a fantastic short tour.

“…that on the west end of Jenkins heights which stand as a pedestal waiting for a monument, and I am confident, were all the wood cleared from the ground no situation could stand in competition with this.”
