ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY TOUR

LENGTH OF TOUR: 2+ hours

WHAT YOU WILL SEE:

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Changing of the Guard Ceremony, John F. Kennedy family grave site, and much more.

Immediately across the river from Washington DC sits the most famous burial grounds in our country. This sacred space is the final resting place of over 400,000 Americans. On this walking tour we will visit the two staple locations within Arlington – the graves of John F. Kennedy’s family and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Along with these two well-known sites, we will see countless other significant grave sites and memorials. Moreover, with the number of prominent Americans buried in Arlington this tour can be customized to suit your interests. Our Arlington tour can focus on African American history, women’s history, significant civilians in the cemetery, or even on members of a certain branch of the military – there are a ton of options.

However, if you want a little bit of everything, we can do that too! Arlington National Cemetery is definitely my favorite place to tour in the DC area, and I could spend ALL DAY here. But for a standard tour of the grounds I recommend 2-3 hours. I also offer a women’s history only tour exclusively through my friends at A Tour of Her Own.

“All who come to Arlington must reflect upon the sacrifices made by those continually brave Americans who lie in rest on these hillsides as beneath silent markers at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, and Pearl Harbor. Their courage won a revolution, their bravery preserved our Republic. Their perseverance kept the peace and ensured a heritage of freedom.”

President Gerald Ford, 1976

Warning:

Arlington National Cemetery Memorial Day weekend and Veterans Day weekend traffic can be overwhelming most years. Therefore it is difficult logistically to operate tours on those weekends, and my highest priority when visiting the cemetery is to respect the families of the fallen who may be mourning. With that in mind, touring with me on those weekends may be very limited.
