DC History Tours – About Me

Hi, I’m Buck, and I’d like to be your tour guide in Washington DC! A little about me… I am truly fascinated by the history of my city – our nation’s capitol – and I’d love to share that history with you. I am a nerd who started tour guiding in DC as a seasonal gig, but fell in love and decided to make this a career. I’m one of those lucky people who have found their absolute dream job. That old cliche “Find a job you enjoy doing and you’ll never work a day in your life” most certainly applies to me!

When I take guests around Washington DC, I try to focus on the things you can’t just find on Google. Any old tour guide can tell you the height of the Washington Monument is (555 feet) or what the statue is on top of the US Capitol building (it’s the Statue of Freedom). I will answer the basic questions, but I also like to go deeper. I want to answer your “how” and “why” questions. How was the Washington Monument built? Why is the Statue of Freedom significant?

However, if learning the in-depth history of places isn’t your thing and all you want to do is just to see these iconic sites first hand and take some pictures, that’s cool too. I know many of the secret and best spots to take pictures for Instagram. I know these spots because I love taking pictures of these places too. I’ve been doing this for years, yet when I see the Lincoln Memorial I can’t help but take pictures too!

Let me be your tour guide!

As much as we love the memorials and museums here, they are not the only things DC has to offer. That’s why we are happy to recommend restaurants, hotels or entertainment options in the Washington DC area too. Come join us for the best dumplings in the city or help us cheer on the Washington Nationals! Enjoy a show at the famous Kennedy Center or sample some of George Washington’s own whiskey! The possibilities are endless in our wonderful city.

If this sounds like the experience you’re looking for in Washington DC, then head over to our Contact page and let us know how I can help. Thank you for stopping by, and I hope to hear from you soon!
